A Serious Statement on AI

In you only read one line, make it this one: if you plan to use AI tools to cause harm or distress to any other person, or violate their rights, your actions are strongly condemned by Herty.xyz and as such we forbid you from using any information published here.

In this blog, I have, and plan to continue writing on the topic of AI, including providing help to people who want to begin working with AI. As such, I feel it would be pertinent and responsible for me to release a statement that covers my views on the ethical usage of AI.

Unethical Usage

Unethical Usage is any usage of any AI systems to create or modify content which is illegal, immoral, or unethical in any way, or any content which violates the rights of another person. This also includes content that is not immoral at the time of creation, but is then used for immoral purposes.

A few examples:

  • Creating content with the intent to use it for scams or fraudulent activity
  • Modifying images to remove clothing or using Face Swapping to create indecent images of non-consenting parties
  • Circumventing watermarking and copyright by removing these features from images

Responsibility

Herty.xyz provides articles detailing the usage of AI tools. We take NO responsibility for anything that you do with this information - responsibility lies solely with you.

We do, however, strongly compel you to be mindful when using AI tools, and to think about the potential impact of your actions.

AI is an emerging technology, making huge strides week by week. As a user of this technology, it’s future is reliant on you and the actions of both you and your peers. Irresponsible and immoral usage will eventually result in restrictive laws and regulations which will harm the growth of AI - and that benefits nobody.

Conclusion

In short - don’t be a dick.

The growth of AI technology is in your hands, please don’t ruin it for everyone.

These are my views - please do not contact me in defense of unethical AI usage.
